Career Guidance and Job Transition Coaching

It can happen to anyone. You finally find a career path that reflects your passion in life and you are fortunate enough to land a good paying job. It has great benefits and there are ample opportunities for advancement. You really enjoy your co-workers and your boss is a great leader who is able to motivate everyone in your department to accomplish their daily goals. Life is good…until it isn’t.

Whether the “isn’t” is a result of a corporate downsizing campaign or if you have been fired from your position, there is nothing worse than feeling “unwanted” when it comes to having a job and a career that you really loved.

When you lose your job it may feel as if your heart is being ripped right from your chest. Stress will begin to set in and countless questions might run through your mind:

  • “How am I going to pay my bills?
  • “What am I going to tell my spouse and family?”
  • “What did I do wrong?”
  • “How do I handle the stress of being unemployed and finding a new job?”

Those are just a few of the questions that will need to be answered. Some will be easy to answer while others will seem impossible, and you will wonder if there is any answer at all. Some people equate losing their jobs to being let go by their long-time love (spouse or significant other). There is no doubt about it…it hurts! And if you are not careful, you can find yourself becoming depressed, which could lead to alcohol or drug abuse as a way to cope with your situation.

When someone loses their job they go through a period of mourning. They begin to question themselves and wonder if there was anything they could have done to prevent their present situation. They may even begin to think they have wasted their time in school and even getting a job in the first place.

But all is not lost, friends. There is life after losing or transitioning from you job, but having to find a new career path may seem like the most difficult journey of your life. Rest assured, countless others have gone before you and have experienced the same struggles and have lived to tell about it. During this transition period of your life, it is extremely important to find a support group that will help steer you in the right direction. That support group can be made up of family, friends, former co-workers and the most important one of all: a life coach or counselor.

A good career coach will help you focus on your gifts and talents and assist you in finding the right place to work. He or she will also know how to motivate and inspire you to think out of the box and continue on your journey in life. No matter what life has tossed your way, it too shall pass and before you know it you will be back on your feet and everything will be working out in your favor.
